Who doesn't want to make some extra cash right at their own home? Well if you are interested, then you can try one hobby wherein you have the chance of earning some money? This hobby is soap making. This is a very easy and fun hobby that almost anyone can try.

There are only two main ingredients that you will need to start out soap making so it wouldn't be very hard to start out with your hobby/ business. You will just need some oil and lye and you will already be able to make your soap. First, start out by perfecting your technique before moving on to more advanced soaps.

The first thing you will need to know is how to make soap and what process you are going to apply in making your soap. The cold method is recommended if you plan on selling your soaps as this yields soap with much better quality than the hot process.

The cold process of soap making is done by dissolving your lye in water and then mixing in oil with the solution. The lye and oil will undergo a process called saponification. While this is happening, the mixture must be mixed constantly so that it will become homogenous and that all of the oil may react with the lye. Once you have a completely homogenous mixture, you may now pour this into molds to give your soap a definite shape.

Upon pouring your soap into molds, you may now leave them with covers on as the saponification process is still continuing. This will continue to take place for about 1-2 more days. On the third day, you may now remove the covers and your soap may already be used. But in order to make your soap even harder, you may want to leave them for several weeks until they become really hard and have a fixed shape.

Other ingredients that you can add to your soap are coloring dyes so that you can give your soap the color that you prefer. You may also use fragrant oils and other ingredients that you may think of to add to the appeal of your soap. Try mixing and matching the oils that you use so that the properties of your soap may also vary.

In addition to just altering the innate properties of your soap, you may also want to do alter the outer appearance of your soap by using different molds to give shape to your soap. You may also learn how to sculpt soap using knives to give them a more personal design. This way, your soap will be more appealing to a lot of people.

Don't waste your free time at home and start taking up soap making as a hobby. This way, you make good use of your time and you can even make some extra money. This hobby is really fun to do and you won't even think that you are doing this to earn some money.
