Any business can become a success or a failure depending upon a lot of internal factors. An important fact that one needs to always be watchful is the productivity and efficiency of operations. If you do not efficiencies built into your operations, you are not ready to further expand and grow your business.

Many of us have the habit of procrastinating and keep things pending till the last minute. This is bad for any business. You to do list should be updated every day and completed as per schedule. This is a healthy sign of running a business.

It is quite common that whenever we are given a task that we do not enjoy doing, we tend to avoid it or postpone doing it. This builds pressure and tension within us and brings down our productivity. The best way to deal with this would be to finish it first and quickly go on to doing things you like.

A smart way of working is to prioritize your tasks on hand and working based on the priorities. All of your tasks on hand may not be important and some can be really important. You cannot be attending to all with the same focus and attention. Hence attend to only the high priority tasks on hand first.

Just because you to attend to the tasks with high priority does not mean other tasks are not important. They need to be assigned priority too. Once you finish the important ones, focus on completing all the rest of the tasks.

All of us are in the habit of checking our mails as soon as we get into the office. This can be a productivity trap that you should watch out for. It deviates our attention to things, which may not be urgent, and we ignore urgent and important tasks on hand and go on with our mails.

Try changing your work habits and start your day attending to the urgent things on hand. Complete the high priority tasks first before you start looking at your mails.

Do not waste time. Stick to your to do list and complete then as fast as possible without distractions. Switch off the mail alerts on your computer as well as your mobile for they can be a big distraction while working.
