subject: Business Mileage is set to Rise in 2011 [print this page]

More than 60% of fleets are expecting to see an increase in the amount of business mileage during the course of the next year, some people though, are expecting a reduction due to the past results of the last few years.

Results showed that the average business mileage of a company had fallen more than 1500 miles per year over the past 2 years. Much of that though has to be put down to the recession and the fact that many companies have been trying to save money and time.

Businesses seems to be booming again thoughwith some companies now saying "we have new shops and more home deliveries, business is good." It seems that britain is slowly coming out of the recession and business is starting to pick up again which should in theory see a pick up in the amount of mileage done by businesses per year.

It seems though that larger companies aren't so optimistic, they only predict that there will be a slight increase in fleet mileage over the next year. The decrease that we have seen over the last few years is not only because of the recession but has also been due to a nationwide effort to use less mileage because of petrol prices being far too high.

It is too early to say whether the age and mileage profiles are short term, and that they reflect the economic climate which has hit the country over the last year or so, or whether this is the beginning of a new trend and mileage is set to keep going down.
