The iPad has an elegant and beautiful design with a sleek aluminum back and an expensive feeling screen. There is an audio jack and a microphone and the speaker is located below the Home button. Weighing about 1.5 to 1.6 pounds, it is heavier than it might seem and probably would tire out your hand if you held it for more than thirty minutes. The display is excellent with a 1020X768 resolution that makes everything on the screen look brilliantly bright and perfectly contrasting. It is like looking at a high definition television screen or even just outside your window, so crisp and clear is the display. Also, you can adjust the brightness levels fairly easily so that the light does not happen to strain your eyes terribly.

A thick bezel surrounds the outer rims of the iPad, and though it gives it a more chunky appearance, it is actually going to be quite useful for you because you will have a place to keep your thumbs and you won't find them touching and clicking things on the screen accidentally. The screen has a very usable and friendly interface. Immediately, you find a screen with colorful icons spread out and labeled in helpful ways. Even if you have never owned an Apple device, you will easily be able to figure out how it works, as it takes a click of a button and the home screen mostly to navigate your way through it. It's even easy to use for children and many speculate that it'll be great for grandparents, as well, or other people who have no great familiarity with technology.

The iPad has an Apple book reader that allows you to read the pages of books on the screen rich with pictures and with easy on the eye lighting, as well. This may change the way you read books if you use this or even Kindle for the iPad, which has the same function. The News apps come with top newspapers that you can read on the iPad, such as USA Today, BBC, the Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg. These various newspapers will allow you to stay up to date with things all from one place.

Watching videos and movies on the iPad is just as easy as doing so on a laptop, as it supports YouTube browsing and online browsing, as well as NetFlix. Music, of course, is part of the entire thing, as it is an iPod, and listening to many music files with wonderful headphone audio sound is a great component of this device.

Web browsing on the iPad can be done, but it is not as fast as on a standard computer. Sometimes you will encounter some Ajax issues and will require Flash support that you don't have to view certain things, and also if you are using Google docs, you will be unable to edit documents. Though these are very minor things, expect a few problems with the Internet browsing aspect of it.

There are many apps you can add to this that will help your gaming experience, music listening experience, and viewing pleasure.
