Cambodian Visa Requirements for Tourists

With amazing destinations like Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, and Preah Vihear, it's no wonder that more and more tourists are flocking to Cambodia. In fact, tourism is now Cambodia's second-largest industry. The only industry that contributes more to the Cambodian economy is textiles. Each year, growing numbers of American tourists flock to Cambodia to experience the country's unique culture.

To gain entry into Cambodia, US citizens need two items: a valid US passport and a Cambodian visa.

Assuming you are traveling to Cambodia as a tourist and flying in to either Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, or entering at another major border crossing, you should be able to apply for a Cambodian visa when you arrive. However, you also have the option of applying before you leave the US, thus expediting your exit from the airport.

Cambodian visas are typically valid for one month from the date you enter the country. Make sure you know when yours expires, as overstayers can expect to pay hefty fines on their way out of the country.

To apply for a Cambodian visa, The following documents are necessary:

A Cambodian visa application. The application is available online.

Two passport-sized photos, 4 cm by 6 cm in size.

Your US passport. Your passport must have room in the back for the visa and be valid for at least 6 months after you enter Cambodia. If your passport is close to its expiration date, you'll need to renew it before you can apply for your Cambodian visa.
