subject: Auto Expo 2010 To Give Smes Much Needed Exposure [print this page] Auto Expo, one of India's premier automobile events held in India jointly by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) will not only witness global brands displaying their products, but will also see small companies showcasing their goods and services. Around 170 SMEs will showcase their products at the event, which will be held in Pragati Maidan from January 5, 2010.
Ideal platform for SMEs
"Auto Expo is an ideal platform for Indian SMEs to display their products. Since it is one of the biggest events not only in India but also worldwide, it is a great opportunity for Indian SMEs to attract global attention", says Sachin Saraf, proprietor of D S Automobiles Industries, a mid-sized manufacturer of auto ancillaries in New Delhi.
Experts believe that since SMEs play a vital role in India's economy, participation in mega events such as Auto Expo will give them the much needed exposure. It will also enable them to understand the various working principals of global organisations and incorporate the same, if feasible, into their organisation.
In this context, Rubia Farooqui, proprietor of Insha Exports Private Limited, a small-sized manufacturer of automobile parking sensors in Mumbai, says, "Indian SMEs do not have enough credit to carry out extensive marketing for their products. Through events like Auto Expo, they can reach out to global audience at a cost-effective price." However, the number of SMEs showcasing their products in this years Auto Expo has dropped to 170 from 185 in 2008 due to lack of space. China has taken the maximum space (5000 square metres) in this years Auto Expo.
