The Primary Reasons Why Business Cards Are Paramount To The Success Of Any Small Business

When looking at any type of company, regardless of how big it is, what the aims of the company are or the industry that it operates in, advertising is imperative to the success of the company. As it is such a broad term, encompassing a vast amount of different methods and techniques, the term advertising is one that can have hundreds of different connotations, depending on the person who is being spoken to.

For some businesses, advertising methods of a considerable size, both in terms of their reach and the price they cost are the only way forward. With global corporations often competing against one and other, the only way to succeed is to not only have an outstanding product, but to be able to market it in such a way that people all across the globe feel they need it, want it and if given the opportunity, will purchase it.

Unfortunately, advertising campaigns like these can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, money which is simply unaffordable and unrealistic to the majority of smaller (and even medium sized) businesses. Although there is no doubting that if the money was available and an advertising campaign of this size was implemented it would be successful, it is impractical to assume that the money will be able to utilize for new and small businesses and therefore other methods need to be looked at and given consideration

One of these methods is the use of business cards, which whilst only small in size and cheap to create, can be one of the most effective advertising techniques that a small business can utilize.

Effective for companies of all sizes, business cards are particularly important to companies that are small in size for a variety of reasons, most notably due to their price and their longevity.

On the first point, business cards are regularly seen as the cheapest form of paper based advertising that can be purchased. For instance, whereas five hundred A5 one sided colour flyers may cost a company approximately one hundred and fifteen pounds, the equivalent in regards to business cards would generally cost a mere forty five pounds. A saving of over sixty percent, business cards are one of the most affordable options available.

The latter point, their longevity, is often cited as being due to the small size of the business card. Approximately three and a half inches wide by two inches tall, business cards are the ideal size to be placed into a pocket, wallet or purse. Whilst this may mean that they are not looked at in-depth immediately, it ensures that there is a promotional material, with full contact details of the company, in the hands of a potential customer. Compare this to flyers, where due to their size people will generally read them and if they are of no immediate relevant dispose of them, business cards are a fantastic way of having part of your business in the hands of many parties, whether they are interested or not.
