How Outsourcing Will Save You Thousands Of Hours Over Time

What outsourcing really is
What outsourcing really is

Since the time IT and ITeS emerged as a most 'happening' sector, outsourcing has also emerged as one of the most important tools in getting a job done. Outsourcing is simply letting an outsider do our tasks for us. Many firms internationally, get their jobs done from an outsourcing firm; it may be because either they are unable to handle the volume of jobs, or want to concentrate on the core job and let a third party do other jobs, or simply, they may not have the expertise needed in some particular area.

How did this start

Most of the time, outsourcing is done in order to reduce costs. Initially, during 1980s, when the '.com' bubble started growing in the United States, meeting targets and deadlines became difficult for a lot of companies. So they begin outsourcing many tasks to Indian firms in order to meet deadlines and reduce costs. They discovered that the workforce in countries like India, China and other South East Asian countries could be contracted for much less money.

The main aspect

But the main aspect of outsourcing that proved more important as well as more beneficial, is timesaving. It is well known that any business, whether online or offline, has many aspects, such as maintenance of machinery, running software, logistics support, legal aspects, accounting, advertising, distribution, after-sales, etc. Each of these activities consume volumes of time. For a bigger firm, each of these activities consume thousands of hours.

All these aspects are equally important for expanding a business. That being said, handling all these efficiently is a difficult balancing act that eats up into your time and resources. So in order to achieve targets or goals without letting any aspect of the business be neglected, there became the need for letting someone else, who is qualified, tend to these time consuming activities.

Most successful entrepreneurs and business tycoons obviously do not do all the required tasks for themselves. They delegate the time consuming tasks to experts. By doing this they can concentrate on the core task at hand and streamline priorities. This also saves precious hours of time that would otherwise be insufficient to cater for every aspect. By outsourcing time consuming tasks, a firm can separate more time for profit generating activities. This also means that the available resources of the firm are allowed to direct business growth and profit generation.

Availing expertise

Many business firms have their own legal and accounting firms, as these are continuous processes. Also, these services are very costly in the US and other developed countries because of the shortage of related experts. So it is very beneficial to outsource these processes to other countries which have many experts who will do these time consuming activities at a much less expense. Thereby the firm saves thousands of hours of time by outsourcing. In addition they are utilizing expertise that is quite often very hard to find in their own countries.

Today, it has become a norm to outsource services such as legal, medical, programming, animation and graphics, education, etc... These services consume enormous amounts of time. By outsourcing to countries with plenty of expertise and cheap manpower, firms are saving thousands of hours otherwise spent on these processes.

Other advantages

Benefits such as time saving, cost saving, quality improvement, capacity enhancement, etc...seem to be some of the main advantages of outsourcing. In the last decade countries like India and China with the availability of expert manpower at comparatively cheaper rates, have given rise to the outsourcing industry. So by all means, take advantage of this wonderful resource of outsourcing. It truly is at your finger tips.
