If any type of tape is going to beinterchangeable, it would probably be shipping tape and packing tape, though shipping tape is harder to tear, generally clear, and usually more heavy-duty than packing tape is, making shipping tape okay to use both for moving and for shipping and packing tape only good to use if you don't have any other options available to you when it comes to shipping things on short notice, or just because you accidentally forgot to pick up the right kind of tape.
Unlike packing tape, shipping tape does not generally allow you to write on it though it definitely does provide a better support for a box or package than packing tape would as the latter is designed only to be used in a controlled area, like a car or a moving van, whereas shipping tape is designed to be used anywhere.
