Motorcycle Or Scooter: Which One Is For You?

Deciding on which two-wheel machine is for you is a difficult decision to make, but that decision can be made a little easier by determining whether youd like a motorcycle or a scooter. If youre a new rider and youre completely unsure about which one may be best for you, you must first remember that what you want may be completely different to what you actually need.

Scooters are perfect for those who simply want to get from A to B. Available in 50cc to 650cc engines, scooters are ideal for short journeys and are really very fun to ride. Scooters are a new riders dream, because thanks to their automatic features, you dont have to worry about using the clutch, allowing a completely hassle free ride.

Aside from being easy to ride, scooters are also incredibly easy to park thanks to their small size and the amount of scooter parking areas available in most areas. Scooters are also environmentally beneficial due to their relatively small carbon footprint, especially compared to many other types of transportation. Whats more, if youre a female rider, youll be pleased to know that theres no need to ditch your nice skirt or dress in order to venture out on your beloved scooter!

If youre looking for something to take to and from work or to nip into town on then a scooter could be the excellent choice for you. However, if youre looking for something to take on longer journeys or lengthy road trips then a motorcycle may be a better option.

Scooter engine sizes start from 50cc and are available up to 650cc engines. If youre 16 and youre learning to ride, you are only able to ride on a 50cc engine (moped); only from your 17th birthday will you be able to ride a scooter with an engine larger than 50cc. All riders over 17 have a wide choice of scooter options.

Motorcycles are better suited to those who want to enjoy lengthy and more recreational rides. They are a lot bigger and powerful than scooters and allow riders to enjoy long distance riding. New riders may feel more at ease by starting on a scooter and progressing onto a motorcycle at a later date, although new riders may enjoy the motorcycle experience a little more.

Motorcycles are little trickier to handle than scooters, but that doesnt mean theyre difficult to ride. Once youve obtained your licence and you feel confident on the roads, you can begin your exciting motorcycle experience.

Metropolis Motorcycles caters for everyone whether youre a first-time scooter buyer or youve been living and breathing bikes for years, we have a whole range of motorcycles and scooters to choose from.
