Online Degree
[print this page]
Getting an online degree is easy to do, and it can be less expensive than traditional college.
There are many other reasons to consider getting an online degree. Aside from the cost, online
degree programs are more convenient and accredited schools that provide online learning
opportunities have degree offerings that carry the same weight as traditional brick and
mortar schools. In fact, many brick and mortar schools are offering online classes for
their students.
With traditional colleges, not only are there the per credit fees, there are fees for the
student association, for public transportation, for the food program the list grows every
year. Books are another huge cost that many online classes dont have. Then there is the
actual travel time that it takes to get to the college, find the building where the class
is being held, and the gas that is involved in the travel. While most students are happy
to find out that the professor isnt coming, they miss out on the fact that they just wasted
there time getting to class, and they arent getting the benefit that they paid for.
Classes for online courses can be taken at any time in any type of clothing. Students
dont have to shave, wake up early, dress in their school clothes or dress in any clothes
at all. As long as there is no web cam used in the class, students can look and smell as
bad as they want. If the student decided not to shower or brush teeth, only the student
(and whomever he or she lives with) will know.
Because the online programs are self-driven, it is up to the student to take initiative
to complete the class in the time that it is given. Learning to be a self-starter and
show initiative are valuable skills in the work place. As more and more supervisors
are being asked to do more with less, those supervisors are beginning to realize how
good it is to have someone on staff who can do their job with little supervision.
An
online degree
can show employers
the level of ability that the job seeker has when it comes to self-starting.
