subject: Car Insurance Reviews: State Farm Insurance [print this page] State Farm Insurance has been around for a long time. Founded in 1922 by retired farmer and insurance salesman George Jacob ?G.J.? Mecherle, he wanted to help farmers like himself get the coverage they needed to operate legally and safely. Car Insurance is one of the most competitive industries in the United States with many excellent companies fighting for your business. Yet State Farm seems to remain at the top even with all the competition, why is this? The most crucial factor seems to be loyalty amongst policy holders. A State farm policy seems to be passed down amongst family members. Parents who have State Farm insurance coverage is often a reason why their children like to go with State Farm. It seems policyholders stay with State Farm once they start up with State Farm. It is therefore possible that habit is the reason so many people cover their cars with State Farm. However, there are problems under the surface. Policyholders seem to only need the company's service once or twice a year according to online reviews, and then its only for minor incidents. This indicates customer service of State Farm hasn't been overly utilzed and the policyholders may be generally complacent. That can change radically. Major competitors such as Nationwide Insurance and Geico have invested millions of dollars in advertising. This means the message of insurance alternatives are being viewed by State Farm policyholders on a continual basis. These commercials hint that if ever State Farm fails to provide quality service, there are highly attractive alternatives that offer competitive premiums and possibly even much better customer service.
There have been some ripples in the water. State Farm has been criticized for not fully providing certain services, among them, free towing. It seems its not always true that State Farm provides 24/7 customer service. There have been complaints that the premiums are too high considering the service provided and what the competition has to offer. Even when a company has been around as long as State Farm has, and built up a loyal base of customers, it doesn't mean that will continue to exist indefinitely when the market is this fiercely competitve. State farm cannot just sit back and expect to keep its customers considering the amount of competition out there. The policyholders of this company has grown over time. Its a challenge to make sure that these relationships stay strong and aren't disrupted by expensive premiums or bad customer service.
