While this girl over here and her drum cover of Kelly Clarksons song is pretty amazing, too. She sure showed off some pretty impressive drum skills! Shes sure has a bright future ahead of her!
However, in case your kid doesnt know how to play the drums, you need not to worry. And why is that? Well, because I'm about to share a few basic steps about how to teach you kid to play the drums.
1. Get the right set of drums for your kid, meaning the right size and type. Depending on your kid's age you'll know what type of drums to get. If your kid is younger then you won't get a full-sized kit, plus you are better off with using cheaper children' drum set. Usually children around 8 or above can be taught to play the drums on a full sized kit.
2. After you get the drum set, you should find a drum tutor for your kid. This is probably one of the most important steps. Because a private instructor will keep your kid motivated and set benchmarks which will encourage the child to focus on its practice. A one lesson per week is enough. Well, at least at the beginning.
3. Make sure your kid has a good method book. That's also very important in the developing the basis of drumming. However, most private instructors will teach out of method books so you should not worry.
4. You can also buy a drum lesson guide on DVD. That can also be very helpful as having many resources will make your child to become less bored when hitting the drums.
5. Last but not least, make sure you buy your kid a drum pad for silent practice. :) It can be carried anywhere and is not as loud as a drum set.
