subject: What Must You Consider While Purchasing Your Adjustable Beds [print this page] Shopping for adjustable beds can be tiring, confusing, and misleading. Why is it that some retailers have their adjustable beds listed at $7000, and others advertise them for $1100? What is a realistic price, and why would anyone pay $7000?
There are really only two or three different types of the adjustable base bed. One that has massage, and one that does not. Sure, there are some bases out there that have lights, alarms, iPod docks, and a bunch of other stuff that you probably dont need, but lets just stick to the most popular models. Of these two types of bases, there are really only three manufacturers. These three manufacturers make bases with other brands on them, such as a Sealy base, or a Tempurpedic base. When shopping for your adjustable bed, make it easier on yourself and compare apples to apples. Or if you cant compare the same manufacturer, at least make sure that youre comparing the same features. That $7000 set includes a base with all the bells and whistles, which you may or may not need. Conversely, the $1100 set probably includes the basic base, without massage or a wireless remote.
When looking at adjustable bed mattresses, its easy to get confused, carried away, or frustrated. There are innerspring models (which are probably used in that $1100 ad), latex mattresses, memory foam mattresses, and air mattresses. Again, when comparing store to store, make sure that youre comparing apples to apples. Dont expect a retailer to match a price for an innerspring mattress with a memory foam one. And when comparing latex or memory foam, get the density of the padding and the core, as well as the height and composition of the layers within. The denser and thicker the foam, the more expensive it will be (think about the $7000 bed).
Finally, size plays a big role in the price of the set. Generally, the most expensive portion of the set is the base. When advertising that $1100 door buster sale, its probably for a twin xl size, the smallest available. If youre looking for a king size, you will need to purchase two bases, whether you have one king mattress or two twin xls on top. Chances are, that $7000 bed is for a split king, with two bases.
When looking at adjustable beds for sale, take all these different variables into account, and shop competitors to find the best price. Also keep in mind that over many holidays, retailers will advertise an adjustable beds sale, and you may find better prices over these periods.
