Buying Bike Parts & Accessories Online

It used to be the case that when it came to getting a new bit of kit for your mountain or road bike you could simply pop down your local cycling shop and consult the experienced staff/owner who would no doubt be a cyclist themselves thus meaning top quality advice and gear from a fellow cyclist.

The key thing there is fellow cyclist, without mentioning any names as a novice cyclist you may be tempted to head down to a large store which in part covers cycling, the unfortunate thing here going from experience is that finding an employee there who cycles or has a professional understanding about bikes, their workings and general cycling kit is not easy.

Added to this the fact of larger stores who carry some cycling gear popping up has led to smaller independent retailers falling by the wayside. No one liked to see this but the sad case is if they were not supported they would not pull through. Does this mean we have lost those cycling experts? The guys who live and breathe cycling? The simple answer is no, it just happens you may need to look in a different place for them.

Some of your favourite and trusted stores will have made it through and will still be where they always were, others may have needed to branch out in to the online market and this is where you can find some real cyclists who care about selling the right kit to other cyclists.

Obviously anyone can set up a website to sell just about anything these days, all you need is the supply and you are set. When researching websites from which to buy cycling parts or cycling accessories it is essential to try build a picture of the people behind the site. Read the About US section; do the owner/staff cycle? How about the blog, are there mentions of any cycling experiences?

If you have a specific question/problem in mind, why not ask the question of a few sites via their site contact forms? You can then judge the knowledge of the retailers based on their answers and use this as your basis for choosing a site to buy your new bike parts or cycling accessories from.

So to sum up, some of our favourite local cycling stores are no more but fear not, some of those experts are still amongst us they just happen to be hiding out online, take a little time though and we are sure you can find them and also everything you wish in terms of sound cycling advice.
