subject: A Business From Home : Pros And Cons [print this page] Let's start with the pros of a business from home.
1. You can work whenever you want. No one else but you decides when you start and finish working. So are you someone who gets a boost at night and is worth nothing in the mornings, you just start off when you're all up and ready to go. Maybe you might want to adjust your schedule to your kids needs. Or you have a spouse that works strange hours and you still want to have time together. With a business from home you can adjust your working hours to get the maximum out of life and your leisure time with your loved ones.
2. No need to get all dressed up. Think of the time you spend on having that smart appearance that lots of jobs require. Getting it right in the morning while you're still half a sleep. Day after day. Now you might like getting all dressed up but you can also do so when you have a business from home. However, if you're the comfy type, you will certainly appreciate being able to work in an old worn out but most comfortable jogging suit, or even in your PJ. And you will save a serious amount on money cause you don't need that much of a wardrobe.
3. You can earn what you deserve. Let's admit it. A lot of jobs just pay you just enough to keep you alive so you can keep working and make your boss rich. A business from home just gives you a much higher income potential.
4. Save time and money on cummuting. How much time and money do you spend on transportation ? What if you could spend that time working your business ? And invest that money to make your business grow ? You could turn the time and money you loose commuting into profit in your business from home.
5. You can live wherever you want. If you just need your laptop to run your business from home you could go live anywhere. Your parents who live on the other side of the country need you to be closer as they grow old ? Your spouse gets a promotion but needs to relocate for that purpose ? Or you want to spend your time travelling ? You can just do all of that.

1. Lack of social contact. If you're working in a job you usually have collegues you interact with. Or you get to meet people. Having a business from home, you will spend a lot of time on your own. So you might want to make sure you'll still be able to meet people. Joining a sports or a hobby club might be a good idea.
2. You need self discipline. No one is telling you to start working, you'll have to get yourself going. Setting up a fixed working schedule might help for some. But what works for everyone is the enthousiasm you feel about your business from home. Passion really is the best drive to keep you performing at your best.
3. Be aware of distractions. Kids running around, friends or family hopping in or asking you for help. It's important to make your loved ones understand that you're not at home having time off and being available all the time. A separate room with an office foto run your business from home where no one is allowed to disturb you might help.
4. Working in the same place as where you live, might make it difficult to relax when you're off work. Here again, a separate office space for your business from home might help. Or a fixed working schedule. You can also build in routines that help you wind down. When finishing your work, go for a walk or enjoy your favourite tv show.
5. You'll spend most of your time inside the house. So you'll want to spend more time outdoors when you're off. Here again, go join a club. At the same time you get out of the house, you get to meet people. It might be even good for your business from home meeting new potential costumers.
Why a business from home is perfect for me
First of all, I hate it when an alarm clock wakes me up in the morning. I'm an early riser but I like my waking up to be natural. During the summertime I often wake up really early, inmediately all pumped up to perform. So if I wake up at 5 am and I would have a job where I start at 8.00, it would be just a waste of all this energy I have available. My husband works very irregular hours and I really want to be off together with him as much as possible to enjoy our leisure time together. We are from Belgium but moved to Spain because of the climate. Now we're used to the spanisch climate, we still find winters a bit cold so we are thinking about moving to a tropical place. And I will be able to take my business from home with me. I just love running a business from home.
