The distance between Jammu to Srinagar is around 290 km. It takes about four hour travel on road to reach from Jammu to Srinagar. The best way to travel from Jammu to Srinagar is by local buses. A lot of direct buses ply from Jammu to Srinagar. There are numerous state owned buses (J&KSRTC) to Srinagar from Jammu in every 15 minutes. The bus fare for a seat is Rs 150 from Jammu to Srinagar. Travel by bus from Jammu to Srinagar is ideal for single travelers and youth.

You can go from Jammu to Srinagar by car too. Cabs are provided on rent from Jammu railway station and bus stand. Taxi charges vary based on the type of car you choose. Although it is a little costlier, you can rent a car yourself for a fine trip. The most recommended option is to go by private mini buses that operate from Jammu bus stand. It is more economical and comfortable when compared to hired cabs. Private mini buses are ideal for families and group passengers as they provide greater comfort and flexibility for group travellers.

There are many direct flight services from Jammu to Srinagar. Several flights operated by GoAir, SpiceJet and Air India fly from Jammu to Srinagar every day. These companies provide economical and reasonable air tickets. Even though there are plans to build a railway track from Jammu to Srinagar, at present there is no railway line connecting these two capitals and hence rail travel is not an option.
