Hyderabad is well connected with Mumbai by air, rail and road. Major airlines like Jet Airways, Air India, Kingfisher, IndiGo, JetLite and SpiceJet have regular flights from Mumbai to Hyderabad. Airlines often provide cheap fares to the travellers. The flights take about one hour and 15 minutes to reach the destination from Mumbai.

There are a few daily trains from Mumbai to Hyderabad. These daily trains are Mumbai-Hyderabad Express (No.17031), Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar Konark Express (No.11019) and Mumbai-Hyderabad Hussain Sagar Express (No.12701). There are some other trains which run on certain days of the week. They are (with the days of operation in brackets) Bhavnagar-Kakinada Express No.17203 (Saturdays), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Visakhapatnam Express No.12750 (Thursdays, Sundays) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Secunderabad A/C Duronto Express No.12219 (Wednesdays, Saturdays). While Duronto Express takes 12 hours to travel the distance, others take 14 hours to 17 hours to reach the destination from Mumbai.

Travelling by road is also popular. Travel agencies operate regular bus services from Mumbai to Hyderabad. The fare for by the journey by bus is above Rs.750. The journey by bus takes about 13 hours to reach the destination from Mumbai. On the other hand taxis charge a rate ranging from Rs.12 to Rs.30 per kilometre depending on the type of car. Taxi cabs take about 12 hours for the journey. Often travellers use road mode of transport in the event of the non-availability of confirmed reservation in trains. The road route passes through Pune, Solapur and Rangareddy.
