The Beauty Of Washing Your Hands

Want to prevent infections? The answer is simple: wash your hands more often and in the proper manner. It is important to know exactly when to use soaps and sanitizers and, above all, get into the habit of doing it, as it was the most common practice of your daily life. In this way, you will reduce the chances of getting sick and spreading germs. It is very easy, as it requires only soap and water and, in some occasion, gel sanitizers those alcohol-based solutions that doesnt require water.

Lets admit it! Its clearly impossible to keep your hands completely free of germs. You touch other peoples hands, objects and surfaces. As you keep living your normal life, you accumulate germs. You could infect yourself by touching your mouth, nose or eyes. The good news is that were quite immune to lots of these germs, so theres no reason to become paranoid. But, wash your hands frequently. Its definitely a good habit.

Remember to wash your hands before cooking, eating, taking or giving medicine, touching or treating a wound and sick people, and when you insert or remove your contact lenses. Of course, it is important to wash your hands after as well. For instance, after you prepared food especially when you touched raw meat and poultry. After using the toilet, touching an animal, blowing your nose or sneezing, handling garbage and other dirty objects such as shoes.

Is there a proper way to wash your hands? Well, we dont aim at teaching you but a brief reminder would do you good. Use soap, water and follow these steps: wet hands under running water, apply the soap (whatever its form) and lather thoroughly. Rub your hands for at least 10 seconds, by carefully scrubbing all the parts especially between fingers and under nails. Eventually rinse well and dry your hands with a clean towel or even better an air dryer.

Ok, this is enough to remind you of the importance of washing your hands. No reason to add the fact that, overall, a good personal hygiene is definitely a healthy habit. Another point, many voices think that using anti-bacterial soap instead of normal soap makes no difference. It even strengthens the resistance of certain bacteria. Lets just say that this is a controversial aspect and it is still subject to important studies.
