Mormonism is a religious sect of believers in the teachings of Joseph Smith Jr. from the early 19th century. It is the most popular living segment of the Latter Day Saint Movement of the 1830s. Joseph Smith Jr. believed in the bible along with incorporating his teachings and revelations from the Book of Mormon, a quite well read religious text. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is the current mainstream group of modern Mormonism, and they are now over 14 million followers as of 2010. Joseph Smith Jr. claims to have translated the 500 page book in 60 days with the power of Divine grace to aid him. But regardless of the beliefs and struggles of the religion, Mormons believe that they have a unique and loving bond with God. Mormonism is a religion, and hence a practice of choice. Fundamental Mormonism is rarely practiced today, but is modified by the Brighamite branch of the religion. These reforms were made by Brigham Young, the follower and successor of Joseph Smith Jr. after the year 1844. Today, various followers have written books and penned their experiences with Mormonism. While the faith is alive and gaining popularity in our haphazard world, many people find truth in the words of the Book of Mormon.
