Working from home and being your own boss are the things dreams are made of. The question is, are you cut out to be the one that succeeds from a home-based-business? There are a lot of Pro's and Con's in making the decision. To succeed you must take advantage of the positives and avoid the traps f the negatives. Knowing that we have all looked at these issues before we began is important for you to remember. Weighing them out and whether you can live with the results though is the most important.
1. You as the Big Boss
Pro: You will have no one looking over your shoulder and rushing you to complete a task or a timeline that you has been given to you as an employee. Most individuals as employees do not realize that they are working on commission. The commission part is that if you didn't bring enough value to the employer you probably didn't have a job there very long. Here you are the boss you make the decisions, you decide what to do, and the end results are that you get paid for your performance.
Con: The sad reality is that for a lot of people, someone is needed who looks over their back and gives them direction. Most new employees work hard when they begin a new job but then slack off to the acceptable minimum of what is required. To be your own boss you must have an ownership mentality when you are an employee before you can be ownership. If you must have any supervision at all this may be a huge factor in your success or failure.
2. You decide what you pay yourself
Pro: As a person who works-from-home, you are the one who will ultimately decide how much money that you earn. You will not be limited by someone else input in want your value is to the company. If you need $50,000 one month and $1000 the next you make that decision and then you make it happen. People who are good at being self-employed always try to give more than they pay themselves to keep some in reserve.
Con: It is tough to earn your paycheck. You have to have a plan and you have to follow through on that plan without someone telling you what to do. Many people who try to work from home have failed and went back into the work place because they couldn't keep the commitment that they made to themselves. If you must have a good business plan that gives you a complete blueprint of how to build your business.
3. You can work a flexible schedule
Pro: This is the major pro that everyone see. Being able to decide when and where to work from is the biggest dream that most people have. You decide when you work best and you decide how much to work. You can also decide to work from the beach. Warning: Personal experience here is that to read you computer screen at the beach for several hours at a time is hard and dangerous to the health of your eyes. Sit on the beach and enjoy it, leave the laptop on the table. Hopefully you deserve the time off. But you decide not someone else.
Con: The truth of the matter is that working from home normally requires more energy and more hours in the beginning than a job does. You have to put the right plan in motion to succeed and then you have to follow the plan to achieve the success that you want. Once you have achieve this success you will have made the process easier and be able to enjoy the lifestyle. If you expect to work a minimum number of hours and get a maximum result, that 40 hour a week job may look a lot better.
Summary
At work at home business requires a lot of long hours and a lot of early sacrifices to begin. I have heard it often said that the hours that you spend making a business successful are returned seven fold as it grows. If the cons out weighed the pros for you do not rush into this industry. If you look forward to the challenges of the pro's, waste no time, get started and let me be the first to congratulate you.
