Why Spend Money on Lawn Maintenance?
Why Spend Money on Lawn Maintenance?

Substantial sums of money are spent on lawn care. Hard figure are not easy to come by, but there is no doubt that the lawn care industry is a multi-billion one. The question before us for determination is as to what the justification for this expenditure on lawn care is. It is a question that many business owners have often found themselves having to ask their agents, when it emerges that the agents have voted considerable sums of money to lawn care. It is a question many homeowners and organizational leaders have found themselves having to ask, upon getting quotations from lawn care firms, on amounts of money they would need to fork to have their lawns cared for.

So, why spend money on lawn maintenance?

Well, in order to understand the justification that exists for spending money on lawn care, we have to understand who actually spends money on such lawn care, and why they do it. In the process, the justification for the expenditure will become clear.

As it turns out, the first category of people who spend money on lawn care is that of homeowners. We are looking at people who live in homes with yards, who endeavor to have such yards planted with grasses, thence creating lawns. This they do mainly in a bid to make their homes aesthetically appealing. But in the process, they also end up substantially increasing the value of their homes. It is to the extent that lawn maintenance can substantially increase a home's value that justification for expenditure on it arises. The truth of the matter is that, if you attempted to sell two houses, one with a lawn and another one without, the one with a lawn would probably sell faster and at a higher price than the one without. Granted, you may have no immediate plans to sell your house.

But you certainly do want it to come across as a proper home, a high value home. This way, it would buffer your public image. It would feel better living in such a home, and being seen emerging from it every morning. And that is something you can get to do through proper lawn maintenance hence the justification for expenditure on the same.

The second category of people who spend money on lawn care is that of organizational leaders. We could be looking at business organizations here. We could also be looking at non-profit entities here. These are people who spend money on lawn maintenance in order to bolster the image of their organizations. An organization whose premises have well kempt lawns is likely to come across as a better managed organization than one with either no lawns, or poorly managed lawns. If we are looking at a business organization, the presence of well kempt lawns is likely to give clients and employees confidence to work with. That would potentially have a positive impact on its bottom-line. If we are looking at a non-profit organization, the apparent good management (through the well kempt lawns) would increase donor and volunteer confidence. This too, would most probably have the effect of making the organization more effective at whatever venture it is involved in.
