3 More Top Tips To Increase Your Productivity When Working From Home (So That You Can Make More Money!)
Hi, my name is Hilary Poeton
Welcome to the 2nd of my articles on how to keep yourself focused and productive from home.
As I said in my first video I have been running various home-based businesses, for the last 7 years and at first I found it really difficult to keep myself from getting distracted. There always seemed to be more important things to do (yes, even housework!).
Over the years I have worked out various strategies which have helped me keep focused, and in this video I will be sharing some more of these which I hope will help you too.
It doesnt really matter if you are a tele-commuter, a contractor or a home business entrepreneur, it is very important that you make the most of the hours that you are working at home
Work From Home Tip 4:
Set yourself a regular schedule which fits around your best working times and family commitments. Try your hardest to stick to this schedule.
Learn what works best for you are you a morning person or do you work best in the evening?
Maybe you need to do both, like me as I work with people in different time zones all over the world.
If this is the case make sure you take time out in the afternoon for a rest, or play with your kids, go to the gym, the beach or the shopswhatever will re-energize you.
Work From Home Tip 5
This is a tip I heard just last week from one of my mentors and it really has made a big difference to me:
Work out your hourly rate.
If you are an employee or contractor this should be easy. Hopefully it is a large enough amount to inspire you! (If not why are you doing this? Maybe you should look at some of the other opportunities out there!)
If you are an entrepreneur just starting up a new home business, simply take the amount of income you want to generate in your first year (and really stretch yourself here), divide that by 52, and then by the number of hours you have scheduled to work each week.
This will give you your hourly rate (and it should definitely be a rate that inspires you and challenges you dont play it safe)
Then write this hourly, weekly and annual income up on your whiteboard or somewhere that you can see it every day.
This helps you hold yourself accountable.
How much money did you just lose while you were checking your personal emails during your scheduled work hours?
Break the rate down even further to a 6 minute rate (that is how Accountants and Lawyers charge their time out).
If you had a job paying this hourly rate, wouldnt you expect that you would have to produce the goods to stay employed?
If you were your boss would you hire you? Or fire you?
Work From Home Tip 6
Finally (for now anyway) my other big tip is not to let your work take over your life (easier said than done sometimes)
Really try to get everything done in the time youve scheduled, then stop work and go do something else. Dont be tempted to quickly check your Email/Facebook, or youll end up working another couple of hours before you know it!
Well thats the rest of my top tips for remaining productive and focused when you are working from home.
Implement them as soon as possible so that you can stay focused and be more productive when you are working online from home.then you will have more time and make more money so you can enjoy your life to the full.
And its my firm belief that enjoying life is what we all should be doing!
