subject: Pakistan, My Country [print this page] Pakistan, My Country Pakistan, My Country
I love Pakistan. These are the three words that almost every Pakistani says, but not from the heart. During the morning assembly, almost everybody sings the national anthem, with what we call "full zeal and zest." I don't, because I know that they are not singing from the heart, and I just pray that may God keep my land prosperous and happy. I hear politicians blab about the benefits of slavery to the superpowers, and I am on the verge of tears. I just wish I could do something to give Pakistan a good name in the world. I look at people throwing wrappers and stuff on the ground after using them, and now, I make at least my friends dispose them off properly. I look at the feudal and the government, who, for their own benefit, are doing things that I can't say here. Corruption, money, bribe, lies, murder, robbery, theft, all are ruining Pakistan. The poor are getting poorer, and the rich, richer. I pray to God that our country prospers once again. I love the land of all seasons and of every landscape.
Born in the UAE, I came to Pakistan some years ago. I had seen Pakistan as a country full of good people and it seemed to me like a dreamland. I used to be really patriotic. When I came to Pakistan, at first I really admired it, but as I grew up and saw Pakistan's real face, my heart was broken. I saw its people fight among themselves, jealous of each other; pulling each other's legs. I saw its leaders make a fool of the public. I saw its roads broken, its air polluted badly. Then I went to Spain last year, and was surprised because I missed Pakistan over there. Even though I did like it a lot, there was no hustle bustle, no broken roads, no pollution, no "weird" stuff. There was no drainage system like Pakistan. It seemed funny that I missed the load shedding. But above all, there was no Azaan. When I came back, I was really happy as our car stumbled over the broken GT Road, the heat, and the polluted air which seemed to choke me. I came up with the conclusion that whatever Pakistan is like, I love it, because it is my land; a land of all landscapes; a land of all seasons. About the people, with the bad ones, there are also the good ones. I love its people too. I just wish it system was changed. I just want to say, "Pakistan, I love, from heart."
