subject: How A Blog Can Benefit Your Small Business [print this page]

There are a number of small businesses in the world that do not know the benefits of having a blog. Having an Internet presence is an important key for the survival of any small business. If you do not have an online presence and your competitors do, then your customers will most likely go with them most instead. In modern business, you need all the outlets you can afford. Since blogging is pretty much free, you would be crazy not to pursue this avenue of marketing.

"Increase customer base with blogging:

With only a physical location, it is hard sometimes to see how to increase your customer base much more than it already is. You can have a sale, run a coupon campaign and send out flyers or direct mail. But without looking outside of your local area, your customer base can only increase a certain amount. Having a blog helps with this since it allows you to expand your customer base to prospective customers that you would not normally have access to.

"Tapping into the online market:

Once a blog is set up, you can add a shopping cart and an online catalog of. This will allow online users to look through your inventory and purchase products directly off your blog. The main reason to pursue this route is to make your products available online and give your customers all the options they would have if they walked into your physical store.

"Staying in touch with your customers:

Having a blog lets you stay in touch with your customers in a more personal way. A blog lets you follow up with customers and lets you keep them up to date on your products and specials. You can use a blog to set up an opt-in list and begin an email marketing campaign. This can be used to notify customers of upcoming sales in the store, new products and special offers available only to list members.

"Having an Internet face:

A blog lets you create an Internet face. This is an important step in our modern information driven society. If you want to survive in our current business environment, you need an Internet presence of some sort no matter how small. The more time you put into creating this face, the more benefits you will gain.

All of these benefits are available easily to anyone who is willing to put a little work in it. As with most things in marketing and Internet marketing in specific, the more time and energy you have to spend on your blog, the more amazing results you will have.
