Planning A Kids Party? A Good Theme Can Actually Be A Real Help!

Some parents love planning and staging parties for their children. For some "Super Mums and Dads" it all seems so effortless! Brilliant parties full of neat ideas and fun. For others it can be a nightmare not knowing what to do or how to go about it.

It is here that choosing a good theme can really be a great help. Providing the idea is not too obscure a good kids party theme really can help provide a framework and structure for a great party. A good party theme is also a way of personalising your party for your birthday boy or girl and making it fit with what they like and enjoy.

It will also help spark off ideas for

Invitations

Decorations

Costumes and fancy dress

Party games

So how do you go about choosing a party theme that will work? The important thing is not to worry too much about games. Many traditional party games can easily be adapted to any theme. All you need to do is think outside the box a bit.

Here is an example. Your child wants an Animal Party - for games you change musical statues to a game where the children dance or bounce around as particular animals ie elephants before having to freeze as the animal in question. You could then perhaps have a tug of war between a team of "rhinos" and "hippos". Then how about using cushions as rabbit holes for a version of musical chairs called "rabbit holes".

You can see it is easy to adapt, tweak and change many old favourites. What's more kids actually rather like them because they understand what to do.

This will work for an awful lot of party games, whatever the theme. Often it can be as simple as coming up with a good (related) name for the game or activity; or simply calling your teams something appropriate.

So don't get hung up on party themes. A theme really can make life easier not more difficult. And, at the end of the day, you know you really wanted to wear that pirate hat all the time!
