Making money online is the same thing like being a lawyer or even a doctor, the rule of thumb is that you can't just jump right in a court or an emergency room if you're not prepared! However, there are nasty people out there who'd have you believe it's a "piece of cake".
But if you were to compare internet marketing with the working world where time is always against you, thus always being an inferior to 'douche bag' managers who just don't care, then hell yes! Although, you still have to know the rules in order to earn a substantial amount of income, and hazards you would need to stay clear away from.
I'll tell you what separates the majority of people who don't "make it" and those who seem to have the "forces of nature behind them". Now, listen carefully, it may sound corky, but out of all things I am assured about in my life, it's this. In order for you or I to start making money online, you must first have passion for the company products and/or service of any internet business from which you expect to make money.
Passion here simply means that you gain knowledge about that company, product, or service you're marketing, and that you actually agree with it. Trying to promote something that you yourself do not believe would be a definite pitfall. Once you've obtain that passion, just channel that 'likeness' into excitement which makes the whole process of marketing enjoyable!
For those who have had much experience in online marketing can afford to not have passion and still make a couple of hundreds in a day (or even thousands!). This concern of mine is directed for those who are fresh in the industry that wishes to make a buck or two and even a major breakthrough in their life.
Now, I would be lying if I said that passion will get you through most of the hassle, since you do need a descent webpage, marketing resources, advertising strategies, and etc., all of which can be obtain from the company you join. But if you ignore passion, you would reduce the chances for success dramatically.
If I am scaring you from all this 'mumbo jumbo' hype about internet marketing and how you won't succeed without passion, don't be. It's not that all difficult or time consuming to implement a few marketing strategies, but you would definitely need the motivation which is backed-up by passion to have that driving force which will help you gain momentum.
Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into internet marketing but if you don't first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.
Not being passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.
