Kia first introduced the Cee'd in 2006 as a 5 door, 3 door (Pro Cee'd) and a 5 door estate (Cee'd SW). There have been reports of a Cee'd cabriolet too, the ex_cee'd.
The Cee'd is available in 4 engine variants, the two petrol versions are an 89bhp 1.4 litre and a 124bhp 1.6 litre. In the diesel line up there is the 89bhp 1.6 litre and the 114bhp 1.6 litre. Out of the four engines the larger diesel is the best option, it is punchy and flexible. The 1.6 litre petrol is not as fast as you would think; the 1.4 litre is quite smooth and adequate enough to move the Cee'd along at a brisk pace.
The Cee'd is in direct competition with the Ford Focus, VW Golf and Audi A3 and although it may not be as fun to drive as these three the Cee'd is light and easy to drive especially with its sure footed cornering abilities.
The ride is what you would expect from a five door hatchback, smooth most of the time but can be firm over rough surfaces. The petrol engines seem a little stretched on motorways and like to make noise, the diesel engines are actually easier on the ear and you don't feel as bad putting your foot down.
Anew Kia Cee'd in London will cost you a minimum of 11,295 for the petrol and 13,620 for the diesel. For the top of the range CRDi diesel you are looking at 16,290. Shop around though as discounts are there to tobe had.
