Marketing To Your List - Provide Them With Relevant Information To Position Yourself As An Expert

With the Internet changing so quickly, your prospects will appreciate your willingness to stay on top of things and to share that information with them in a timely fashion. Even if you have only been doing business online for a year, you are still far ahead of those you will be helping.

Think about the information that would be of interest to the people on your list. What is it that they must know in order to achieve their goals? How can you get that information to them so they will know you care about what they need?

There are a variety of ways you can provide this type of information to your prospects. Subscribe to some of the blogs and ezines that cover the news in your niche. Read offline magazines on the topics you cover. Attend live events where you can hear the latest updates first hand.

Set up Google alerts on the keywords you need to know about. Being the person who is 'in the know' about what is happening in your niche is the fastest way to position yourself as an expert in your field.

This does not have to consume all of your time and resources. Simply be aware of what is going on and decide how you will inform your target market.

You may want to include a section on your newsletter, post to your blog, or hold regular teleseminars that will include these types of updates.

It will be up to you to decide what is relevant. For example, when my online focus was eBooks I made sure to include updates on Amazon's Kindle reader, as well as facts and figures about how many eBooks were being published and sold, in relation to traditional books.

This information was readily available online, and my prospects appreciated the fact that I was so well informed in this area. Soon it became a challenge for me to find new details about what was changing in the field of eBooks.

Having this type of information readily available made me the go to person in this niche.

Take a look at your niche and see what news would be important to your list. You may find that someone already on your list has access to information that would be helpful to everyone. Give them credit for anything relevant they share with you. This type of acknowledgement serves to encourage people to be even more helpful in the future. If there is information that is crucial to your niche, write a short report about it in detail. This will serve you well in the years to come.
