I love reggae as millions of people around the world too. We each have our own reasons why we love this genre. Some may point at the uplifting message that is usually associated with reggae music while some love the beat and there are those who are into the whole Rastafari culture. To me, it's the combination of those three plus the charisma of Bob Marley and his sons.
My love for reggae has made me develop an interest in all instruments used by reggae artists. But since I don't have any talent whatsoever when it comes to making music, I try to stick to easier instruments to play like the marimba. Sure, it is hard to be good at playing the marimba but it is definitely easier than doing a great solo on the lead guitar or learning the complexity of wind instruments.
My fascination with the instrument reached a new high just recently when I found out that I can easily make my own marimba. Although I have to buy a book with all the things necessary covered I think it is better than buying a ready-made marimba.
But I have to be really sure whether making my own marimba is the best course of action. So I search for marimbas online and I was pretty shocked at the prices of good quality marimbas. They cost thousands of dollars so a hundred or so buying the ebook and a hundred more for the materials needed to make the instrument means I really made a good choice.
It might not be true for everyone though. You of course have to make sure that you put the information on the book to good use. As for me, I would seek the help of my brothers to get this project going.
