Internal Builders Inspections In Australia

Practical Completion Inspection - Internal Checklist

Check that all multiple power points, two-way light switches and dimmer switches have been installed.

Check that concrete floors are level. This is especially critical in big areas which are to be tiled. The floors may perhaps require topping.

Check that the ceiling manhole cover is installed and painted.

If a metal roof frame is installed then check that two steel planks are placed in the roof for walking on.

Check that insulation material is installed properly and is of the correct rating. Insulation ought to cover the whole roof area up to the outside edge of all walls. You will need to look into the roof space using the builder's step ladder for this.

Check plasterwork isn't chipped or damaged. Check for rough patches and that the plaster is square around window and door reveals.

Check ceilings are sanded flush at the joins.

Check the roof space to see that back-blocking has been installed over the ceiling sheet ends.

Check painted surfaces are neatly and properly painted. If grinning (show-through) is evident, the right number of coats has not been applied.

Check that walk-in robes and cupboards have been painted inside.

Check that there is no excessive cornice cracking. Minor cracks could be expected within the early stages of settlement of the building.

Check that all lights work.

Check that rubber door stops on metal frames aren't missing.

Check door margins between the door along with the frame are even.

Check that striker plates and tongue of all internal doors are in line and that the tongue is not obstructed by mortar.

Check that privacy locks have been installed to bathrooms and other nominated rooms.
