subject: Clinical Psychology Masters Programs Designed To Meet The Needs Of A Global Community [print this page]

Because our society has taken on a very global focus due to increased connectivity, because of wars, for commerce, and for various other reasons, there has never been more of a need for psychology professionals with multi-cultural experiences.

The need for clinical psychology phd and clinical psychology masters students to take an international focus has never been greater. This is a necessity to help promote diplomacy throughout different cultures, to resolve conflicts, and to provide a renewed sense of world togetherness. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology has addressed this issue and has realized the need for this type of training by offering the first degree of International Psychology.

This clinical psychology phd degree is quite unique and combines a specialized blend of training that teaches students how to engage others, how to work with individuals with different backgrounds, and how to conduct research and studies to find solutions to common global problems.

There are two main concentrations offered with the new International Psychology program: Trauma Services and Organizations and Systems.

Trauma Services is meant for mental health professionals, medical staff, and teachers who are affiliated with organizations that provide first responders to areas affected by natural disasters, war, and other forms of trauma. Students taking part in this concentration can also work with these organizations to provide training, work with refugee programs around the world, or provide support for international mental health needs.

Organizations and systems is meant to prepare clinical psychology masters graduates to lead, design, and implement international programs for various organizations such as religious organizations, the United Nations, various other government agencies, and multinational corporations.

The valuable skills taught in these concentrated programs result in professionals who possess unique qualifications that can be used in many different facets. Because the world is always continually changing, often at a rapid pace, the need for psychologists with broad skill sets has never been more in demand.
