The Retail Christmas Season

Another Christmas will soon be pastAnother Christmas will soon be past. This joyous time of year seems to come round so soon these days. A unusual concoction of stress, all to disappear by the arrival of the New Year.

For ages, this has been regarded as a time for getting together. But for the serious enterpreneur, it is an opportunity to capitalize on the festivities.A short moment to prove their worth in retailing and achieve more sales than the last year.

In many ways, it is unfortunate that a time of goodwill has become so business orientated, but this is a reflection of our society that we have formed. The year 2010 has proved harder than other years for many of the population due to the many job losses and the failure of the banking system. The effect is, a sharp reduction in banks lending money, which has produced the same effect on business expansion. As a result the whole process has ground gently to a halt. This is normal enough as in a lot of ways, it will ensure more solid bases for the banking infrastructure in the future, which until now has been built like a 'pile of cards'. For a lot of the population, December is a time of reflection on what they have achieved. How they managed to achieve it? Could they have done it better, and how will it change their future? This in itself is a very useful process, taking stock of one's experiences, can help to fortify the foundations of our thoughts. The recent icy weather (I used to love the snow, and still do.) has dramatically stopped the population's spending at a time of the retailers most profitable period of the season. Consequently, this has a 'knock-on' effect to the rest of society. Even so, it is of course not all doom and gloom, because 'valleys cannot exist without hills', and mankind cannot remain in a state of financial hardship forever.

As a result of these events, we may experience a transformation in the quality of mechandise, for example Germany's exports are in great demand these days. Some of the products they manufacture are, Cars, eg. Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche; Washing machines, eg. AEG.The list of products is endless, but the sucess is obviously because of the high quality with which they manufacture.
The Retail Christmas Season

The once world renowned car industry of the United Kingdom has virtually vanished, except for several specialist makes. The main reason seems to be from what I can see, is that the workers and unions try to have more money from the business than is sustainable. Like many societies before us who have had the pleasure of centuries of successful trading across the globe. We have grown lazy, and look for reward without work, convincing ourselves this is the better and more satisfying route.

The fundemental rules of our society and its 'money for nothing' idea need to alter so that we can move forward and not only be successful in the global development, but to feel the pride that we have created something through hard work and our own energy.

Christmas is a time of giving and feeling good in oneself, a time of reflection, and a time to take a step back from the everday routine of life that moulds us into the characters we have become. I wish you a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
