subject: An Important Decision To Make When Purchasing A Vacuum Pump [print this page]

Shopping for vacuum pumps might not be an everyday event in your life like shopping for groceries or for clothes, but there could come a time that you do end up needing to shop for a vacuum pump. Just like shopping for a house or a vehicle or other large purchases that you do very seldom that can be a haunting task there is one thing that needs to be considered before making that purchase. That one thing might seem obvious and kind of dumb, but hear me out on this one.

The secret to success with purchasing a vacuum pump is that you will want to decide if the vacuum pump is for personal use or for commercial use. This seems obvious, but there are several things that can get you hung up on going one way or another that can make it the biggest mistake you have made. One of the first things to swallow that can make it the most difficult is the difference in price.

Several years ago we owned a business. We started out our business purchasing all items that were rated for commercial use. It was great. We got the maximum use out each piece of equipment and they lasted a long time. They did what they were supposed to and there weren't any delays due to purchasing something that was for personal use and it dying or working slowly for the commercial where that we needed. Then after a few years some of the smaller pieces of equipment started to wear out. We had to decide to purchase a few new things. On one of the pieces of equipment we called on the commercial one and it was going to cost us $300 each. Then we went to the store and could get this item for $45 each. With a struggling business at the time we chose to purchase the $45 personal use ones. Guess what happened? We ended up replacing the item within a month or two, not a year or two. This ended up being much more costly than if we would have just gone ahead and purchased the commercial grade.

The other thing that might sound really weird is that you could get sold on the commercial grade vacuum pump when you really only needed the personal grade vacuum pump. It's always great to have added benefits, but you might find yourself under using the vacuum pump and still having the upkeep of a commercial grade vacuum pump.

Be sure to think these things through before going to the store or online to make the purchase. You will find yourself a lot happier with your decision.
