The three primary characters in the show are Nina, Usnavi and Vanessa. Nina has just returned home from her first year at Stanford; her parents own the taxi service and have sacrificed plenty to send their daughter away to college. They are not yet aware at the start of the musical that Nina lost her scholarship and was forced to drop out of school. Usnavi runs the local bodega with his cousin Sonny and he struggles to keep the business afloat; he one day dreams of returning to his homeland, the Dominican Republic. Vanessa works in the beauty salon and is also desperate to leave the neighborhood. Her mother has a persistent drinking habit and habitually uses the money that Vanessa hopes to escape with, keeping Vanessa dreaming for a miracle.

Follow the lives of these characters and many more once you reserve a seat for In the Heights. With a lively and energetic musical score and an entire cast of talented actors, In the Heights is undoubtedly one of the best musicals currently featured on the stage.
