Learning to ride a motorbike can offer freedom, enjoyment, and even camaraderie above anything you might enjoy while driving a car or taking public transport. However, there are a number of tests, rules, and regulations in place to ensure that everybody taking to a public road while in control of a motorbike is safe and a reliable road user. The first stage of this is the CBT or Compulsory Basic Training course.
Who Needs CBT London Training?
Virtually everybody that wants to learn to ride a motorbike needs to take a CBT. Introduced in 1990 the test was established to help reduce the large number of accidents that occurred involving inexperienced riders. It was not only designed to improve general road safety for all users but for the riders themselves by ensuring that every biker has at least some knowledge of how to safely handle their bike on the road.
Passing a CBT London training course enables you to ride on the roads on a moped or motorbike using L plates, or D Plates if you are in Wales.
The CBT
There are five elements to a CBT London course. There is an introduction which gives step by step guidance on what will be taught, practical on-site training, practical on-site riding, practical on-road training, and practical on-road riding.
Passing
While the exact training can vary from one learner centre to another, the CBT will only be awarded if all five elements are satisfactorily met and the final stage, practical on-road riding, must include at least 2 hours of riding a motorbike or moped safely on a public road while under instruction.
How Long Does It Take
While a CBT will usually be complete in one day, it may take longer in order to ensure that the rider is both safe and confident in riding on the road without the need for further assistance.
CBT London
Not only is a CBT a legal requirement it is also a good introduction to riding motorbike or moped and many learner riders use the experience to determine whether or not riding a motorbike is really the ideal solution for them. It is also an opportunity for the instructor to assess the quality and skills of a rider.
