Whenever Christmas is beckoning, a number of people start their search for a Christmas tree. They are usually quite costly because of the high demand especially during Christmas season.

Artificial versions of these trees are manufactured for the same purpose. The Germans were the first to venture into artificial making with their wooden. Great Britain was the largest consumers of the Brush bristles in the 30's. From the late 50's well into the 70's. Predominantly made out of aluminum is said to have lost favor after a 1965 movie portrayed them negatively. Currently, artificial trees are made out of PVC plastic. Prelim trees, made out of recycling material, are quite popular.

The artificial trees can be decorated in a similar manner as real Christmas tree. This is however dependent on the material used to make them since some may be highly inflammable and limit the use of electrical decorations. It is also quite possible to find artificial trees which are so much alike to their real counterparts that telling them apart may take quite a bit of observation. Some are able to be so alike to the real trees that they emit a similar smell as real trees. Other artificial trees for Christmas are packaged with Christmas lights in place and all one has to do is to plug them to a power supply.

Artificial trees for Christmas are highly favored because they offer the ability to be re-used. The trees are also considerably cheaper compared to real ones. However, they do still raise contention with regards to their disposal since plastic is not easily degradable. It is on the other hand possible to recycle them since they are made of PVC and used for a number of other functions. However artificial trees are not only restricted to the Christmas tree alone, there are a number of manufactured silk trees and silk flowers available. There are also trees made out of fiber optics and holographic trees. There are artificial trees used as decorations on tables made out of cardboard and glass, among other materials.
