Newcastle Science Festival - A Fest For The Mind

Newcastle upon Tyne is mostly well known for its nightlife, music, art, and of course the bridges. This city in the North bank of River Tyne was founded in the 2nd century AD and has grown to become a hub of culture, architecture and business. Perhaps the most famous landmark in Newcastle is the Tyne Bridge constructed over River Tyne connecting Newcastle and Gateshead. This majestic arch bridge was opened officially by King George V in 1928 and since then has become a symbol of Newcastle upon Tyne.

This chic urban city is also the home to an annual Science Festival started in 2002, to instill a scientific curiosity in the minds of both young and old alike, and to encourage young students to take up a career in the field of science. It is a festival held between 6-10 days with film screenings, live lectures, family events, demonstrations, workshops and of course the UK Maker Faire. The festival is provided in collaboration with Centre for Life, Newcastle University, Newcastle Science City, Tyne and Wear Museums, Newcastle City Council and culture10 as part of Newcastle Gatesheads world-class array of events and festivals. If your mind likes to ask questions, you wonder aloud and are brimming with curiosity then this is the place to let your mind wander free over new inventions, test new theories and expand its boundaries in the world of science and invention.
