Most of us have seen our idea of what retirement might be change dramatically over the last two generations or so. There used to be the notion of working at the same job until you are 65, (perhaps 60 if you were employed by the government), then living quietly until fading away.
What a different picture nowadays! Many of us experience three or four changes of job, sometimes even whole new careers. Better healthcare, diet and fitness opportunities mean we can look forward to many more of the 'golden years' than many of our predecessors.
Along with this new situation come higher expectations of the kind of lifestyle we wish to maintain.
All this means that, for those of us who do not have a large pension fund or the equivalent in savings, there is a need to continue generating income well into our senior years. I have recently learned a 'buzz phrase' which has really got me thinking. I discovered that many wealthy people become so by developing 'multiple sources of income' (henceforth MSI - buzz phrases must have a short form!)
Now when I first heard the term MSI, I really could not see how it could apply to me in any shape or form. On further thought and study, I now find that it could be the answer to many people's need for long term income streams. The key is to relate MSI to the modern technology which is now so easily available.
What I am referring to of course is the internet; setting up a profitable business at home, using little more than a computer, has never been simpler.
Just in case there are those who believe such opportunities are only for younger people, that is just not true! This is so important that I will repeat it! Learning the skills necessary to operate your own little business at home need not be difficult at all. Once you combine these new abilities, with capabilities you did not even know you possessed, then you can become quite a formidable force. Taken all in all, a completely new venture can be both profitable and tremendous fun.
The first thing to add to that assertion is a warning; do beware of many of the so-called opportunities which offer quick or instant returns with little or no effort. The only profit involved is for those selling you the 'opportunity'. Simply try not to forget that if it looks too good to be true, sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be totally true. There might be just enough truth in it so that taking your money is not illegal! But not enough to allow you to make much use of it.
I am an incurable optimist and have been on the wrong end of more than one of these experiences. What I now know is that you do not need to invest a lot of money to make a start and find out whether an internet-based business is right for you.
The best people to learn from can all provide you with more than enough free information and training, so helping you decide which direction to go in and who to trust and follow.
