Social networking isn't for everybody, but the rest of us are sure having a blast with it! Whether its moms or dads, kids, young adults, older adults, it doesnt seem to matter. All kinds of people are using social networks to connect with old friends or find some new acquaintances. Internet marketers are hoping to increase their revenue through the social networks, thus more opportunities are coming into play. With that being said, here are some important tips to help you have a great time and make a little money also:
1. Start small by signing up with just a couple social networking sites and immediately get the Profile section filled out. This will help you brand yourself. Your personal brand is a factor that helps determine your success. Be real with your profile, and you will attract the kind of people you are going to market to. For example, if internet marketing is one of your interests, make sure to put that in your profile. To be quite honest with you, I suggest starting with Twitter and Facebook because of the astronomical growth of these sites.
2. Try to develop some relationships with folks, and dont try to blast your message out like gangbusters. Give your people good content, whether its current events or articles on a subject you think would be appropriate. You then can put in a gentle, non-abrasive pitch for your product or service. Try to get a 50/50 balance. Also, throw in a few personal updates to show folks you are just as real as everyone else.
3. Post to your social bookmarking sites at least once or twice per day. On FaceBook, you can even great a group about a certain subject, and invite people to join that group. You will also find on FaceBook that there will be many groups you can post to. So try to make sure you are posting on a daily basis. By keeping your name out there along with your good content, you are making your mark in social media; just exactly what you want to get people to purchase your product or service!
4. Many of the social media sites ask for a user name. So be prepared, and decide if you want to use your name or a business name (FaceBook will allow you to also create a business page). Use your personal name if you want to brand yourself. If you are not interested in personal branding, then use a business name that describes your business.
5. An additional item for your profile is to make sure you have a photo of yourself included in that profile. This helps folks get a feel for who you are, who they are dealing with. The photo helps lend to your credibility of being real, and is a great thing to include in your profile. Some people will not even consider following or friending a person that does not have their photo posted in their profile. So your photo is very important.
By using these few simple tips, you will be amazed at the huge number of Twitter Followers, Facebook Fans, and other members you have as a result. Some of these folks will click on your website just to see what you have to offer. They may intend to only browse your articles, but end up buying your products because they believe in you and your values. You may also take a look at their websites for the same reasons. This wonderful combination is how social media combines to help create wealth.
