The Twelve Days Of Christmas
The Twelve Days Of Christmas

Modern day believers appear to have misplaced the significance of this magical and treasured even blessed celebration in our history but it happens anyway. Think of wind as it blows all across our universe as there are not any borders that can prevent its progress and know Gods love for his people.

We may have anxiety about being able to buy and deliver gifts to loved ones and friends but Christmas allows us the blessings of magical memories. The best part is that they shall last to eternity; i.e. if we embrace the opportunity; this season embrace it like never before.

The Twelve Days Of Christmas

Flowers waltz all year long in every breeze whether warm, cool or even very cold but one thing they will do is shower the air with their fragrant scents. We all love fresh scents as they waft through the air so allow your love to flow without borders and restrictions. Like all birthday celebrations they are preceded by nine months or more of preparations giving joy to the happy couple. Now this enables us to have an idea how happy Our Lady and Joseph were to be chosen to bring Jesus into our universe.

Can you imagine it really that for thousands of years it had already been decided that the nativity was going to happen? Sadly people of the time were not in tune with God to address their difficulties by embracing faith in their lives thus reshaping their history.

Christmas is about love, not giving gifts, but real unrequited accepting love for each other. That was the main or primary message God wanted us to cherish as he really did not care a whit about sacrifice as long as we were living breathing examples of his love. Many of us have a habit of talking about knocking on the door of love without ever actually walking all the way through when it opens.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word'

What do I have to do to be heard?'

This Christmas we have an opportunity to truly reflect on the essence of it all and then behave accordingly. Faith is not really very difficult to embrace and although at times we may wonder why have faith when we see so much sorrow and misery but we have been warned throughout history that life is not going to be a box of chocolates.

Stop the lights this Christmas as well as turning them on by allowing your light to shine on those who least expect it; maybe family or maybe friends. Maybe even a wee group of people across the water living in an area where water is not that available and a few coins could really make a difference; check out the Trocaire initiative.

As children of God, irrespective of denomination, we have permission to endow each other with love and to put aside any bias or prejudice. Leave your Christmas tree in place with lights decorations and all and if businesses follow this same example then maybe the New Year shall commence with even more blessings. We are nothing without love and if God can humble himself for our benefit then we too have it within us to offer love everywhere and it can all commence during the twelve days of Christmas. God bless and happy holidays!
