subject: Effects Of Global Recession In The Call Center Industry Of The Philippines [print this page]

The call center industry of the Philippines had gained continuous success in the world market that it had later outpaced India as the largest provider of Live Answering Service in the market, placing the Philippines as the call center capital of the world.

However, the call center industry of the Philippines wasnt always successful in its long run. There was a time in which the industry had taken a major downturn along with many other BPO industries around the world. This was when global recession had hit the world market.

Effects of Global Recession in the Call Center Industry of the Philippines

One of the major effects of global recession in the call center industry of the Philippines is its downturn due to the fact that the most revenues of the industry comes from the US, which was heavily affected by global recession.

As the number of foreign investors withdrawing their accounts from different call center companies in the Philippines, both local and foreign owned, had continuously grown, the number of call center companies and agencies closing down had also increased, causing a mass unemployment in the Philippine market.

Though there are still a number of call center companies that stood during global recession, their recruitment processes had significantly changed to hire only those experienced and skillful in providing Live Answering Service s. Call center managers require graduates who are extremely fluent in English and (for technical accounts) above par IT skills.

The sudden downturn of the call center industry of the Philippines had also affected the growth of the economy of the Philippines in the world market as the call center industry was one of its largest contributor from the global market, while this downturn had also affected the growth of the BPO industry, the call center industry being its major contributor.

After Global Recession

As global recession had slowly receded, the number of foreign investors had slowly returned to the Philippines to either outsource their Live Answering Service needs, or to start their call center business again.

Today, though global recession can still be felt in many parts of the globe, the call center industry of the Philippines had gradually grown in the world market until recently in which the Philippines had outpaced India as the call center capital of the world.
