subject: Hp Ranked First In Global Pc Sales Charts Of 2010 [print this page] According to IDC's fourth quarter of 2010 sales data, the market share of Apple Mac computers in the U.S. reached 8.7%, even if the iPad sales are not accounted.
In the fourth quarter of 2010, the global PC market growth continues to fatigue. It is because of the lack of motivation in the consumer market and the media panel sale is stronger than that of last year. Despite the drive of a long sales cycle and cost-effective products, the fourth quarter 2010 PC sales grew only 2.7%, much lower than the previous target 5.5%.
In the U.S. market, Apple and Toshiba are the only two companies whose sales have increased. In the fourth quarter of 2010, Apple Mac computer sales are expected at 170 million, ranked fifth in the total market in the United States. Toshiba sold 1.97 million computers, ranked third in U.S. HP ranked first sold 5.72 million computers, and Dell came in second sold 4.37 million PCs. Other PC makers sold 4.43 million computers. Acer came in fourth sold 1.76 million computers.
Analysts believe that consumer weakness in many markets began to intensify. On the one hand, the boom of netbook faded; on the other hand, consumers pay more attention to other products. Analysts say that many PC manufacturers just want to ride out the worst first half of 2011 instead of expecting a rapid growth.
IDC specifically mentioned that HP faces challenges in the U.S. market, especially when the netbooks sale tends to slow down. On the other hand, Dell tries hard in the emerging market to counteract the stagnant U.S. market difficulties. After a strong growth in 2009, Acer also subject to slower growth of the netbook and faces the challenge of slowing consumer demand. Lenovo's growth on the whole is well and the development of advertising plans and policies for enhancing the region properties have improved. Toshiba is one of the few in the U.S. market to achieve double-digit growth of the PC manufacturers.
So, in the world market, HP ranked first in sale chart and occupied 18.5% of market share. Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba follow in the chart.
