Are You Just Doing It For The Money?
Are You Just Doing It For The Money?

It is said that the best things in life are free, and yet while people tend to intuitively agree with that, few actually practice it. In fact, most people spend most of their time at work, and when asked will emphatically tell you in no uncertain terms how much they dislike their jobs. I'm making it sound worse than it actually is in reality of course, but in general, isn't the observation true?

A lot of people when asked why they work so hard- 10 to 12 hour days for instance- they'll tell you that only do it for the money. It's all about the money. But when you guesstimate their spreadsheets, you find that a lot of these noble toiling souls are already earning far more than they need to and spending far more than they have to.

The problem is that there are things that they have somehow imagined are necessary or that they have to have, and if they did not have them, life would somehow be incomplete. Now, I work really hard with the aim of putting my kids through college, and if they want to go to some really fancy, smanshy colleges, well, I'll help them the best I can but I'm pretty much saving up for a regular but decent state University.

And, aside from things like health insurance and food, that's about as important as it gets for me with money. In fact, I often forget when lost in walks that I'm having the best time in my life and it's all for free. Briefly, there is another class- the wicked- that I won't go into here: the super mega wealthy who build our empires. Those people will do anything for money, and that is no joke. But don't believe me, see for yourself!
