Baby Boomers Get A Taste For Travel

This is also true with regards to travel, older people may be more cautious when it comes to strenuous physical holidays and are more much diligent when it comes to finding the right travel insurance. Over 70s may not want to spend every waking moment mountaineering, snowboarding or bungee jumping, but who says they dont want a bit of fun and excitement?

There is no need for older holiday makers to blend into the background around a pool with a good book (unless they want to!) or to sip endless cups of tea in charming surroundings. Just because they may not want to test the levels of physical endurance it doesnt mean all bets are off. What about taking the middle ground? There are plenty of activity holidays that dont actually involve much activity, possibly nothing more strenuous than a bit of gentle exploration wine tasting or even cookery courses, where you not only learn new skills but get to indulge in fine dining every night in grand surroundings.

France is quite often on the top of most peoples gastronomic shopping list, who hasnt heard of Chablis, Ctes du Rhone, Burgundy, Bordeaux and of course Champagne? Every region seems awash with famous vineyards and restaurants, so unless completely averse to crossing the channel France is the obvious first port of call (literally).

However, there is a wide choice of destinations including various UK towns including London and BristoI to Italy, Spain, USA, South Africa and even singles cooking holidays in Crete. Most travel agents offer several packages for active cookery holidays, plus there an almost endless list of websites providing information and ideas.

Alternatively, if you cant decide which country or style of cooking to choose why not consider the charms of the Spanish countryside, where you can visit the cookery academy of one of the UKs favourite French chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli, for an indulgent foray into the world of fine dining.

For those who find the learning just a little too energetic there is always the prospect of heading the nearest restaurant to be waited on hand and foot with the local delicacies, before heading off to the pool with a good book!
