What to do when stuck in traffic at Christmas!

When it comes to the few days of the festive season and Christmas often sees people driving for miles to spend time with their loved ones, and some are even lucky enough to spend Christmas Eve with their families too, missing the festive traffic can be such an achievement when they have prepared their journey a little time earlier and with a bit more efficiency.

The last thing you want is to be stuck in traffic London bound on the M25 with screaming children, however sometimes these things cannot be avoided. Here are a few tips to passing the time festively with your family whilst stuck in your car.

Consider a Santa laughing competition, who within your family can laugh the best Ho Ho Ho, or if that doesn't seem up your street perhaps you could play all of your favourite Christmas songs and sing alternative lyrics.

Packing a few festive treats before your journey will also help to pass the time. A few mince pies, bit of cheeky christmas cakes or for the healthier of you some carrots 'just like the reindeers'.

Playing a festive christmas version of pictionary could also be amusing whilst driving- although encouraging the driver to play is illegal so better keep it to the passengers and try not to distract the driver.

You could always choose to road trip at night, past all of the twinkly lights of the big city. There are many positives to this as the roads would generally be clear, the festive feeling would be more abundant at night and you won't chance seeing the badly dressed version of Santa changing a tyre on his Ford transit, London bound on the M2, with a not so festive builders bum high in the air.
