The food that our children eat is one of the main elements that can cause them tooth and mouth infection. Since you are the one who prepares the snacks of the little ones, it would be best to carefully plan their snacks so as not to inconvenience the healthy growth and proper maintenance of their teeth.

The rule of the thumb is this, "Sugars are enemies of the teeth". Sugary snacks may indeed by the most liked food by your children but if you do value their oral health then you should teach them to stay away from these foods. Candies, cookies, cakes, pastries and other foods rich in carbohydrates lives invisible germs to thrive in your mouth because it is also their favorite food group. Unfortunately, after they gobble up on all the leftover sweets in your children's mouth, they will transform this into harmful acids which will start attacking the enamel of your teeth. When this happens, your child will start complaining about recurring toothaches.

The secret in educating your children and training them to eat smart snacks lies with you. Create a table of food groups which you plan to provide your children on a weekly basis. Check if it contains too much starchy foods and chewy or gooey sweets that have a tendency to stick to your children's mouth for a longer period of time. If it can't be helped and your children wish that you give them a few chocolate cakes from time to time then always remind them to brush their teeth so as to remove the sweets that may get stuck in between their teeth.

As caretakers of your children, you should always think of their health more than their pleasure and satisfaction. They may fail to understand the reasons behind your strict implementation of this diet but they will applaud you the moment they rich adulthood.
