Is The Google Pr Of Your Website An Important Factor?

If you have been optimizing your site for the search engines, you probably have heard of Googles page rank system. PageRank or also referred to as (PR) is an algorithm that is used by Google to compute the relative importance of a webpage on the internet. Each page of your website is given a page rank, not the entire site as a whole. Google will give your pages a numeric value of 0 to 10 with 10 being the most important.

Many website owners will ask how Google calculates their PageRank. While the answer is pretty complex, PageRank is mainly determined by how many other pages are linking to it. When a webpage is voting to another webpage, Google considers the link as a vote for that page. With that said, the more links you have coming into your pages, the better. You must remember that all links are not created equal. The webpages that have more credibility will have more value to your PageRank then the ones with less credibility. If you want to seek links with more credibility, try gaining incoming links to your site from pages with high PageRank. Here is something to remember when looking for incoming links. An incoming link to your site from a page that has a PageRank of 6 will have more value then 100 incoming links with a PageRank of 3.

So why is the PageRank of your site important you ask? Well, if a user is searching Google for a certain keyword phrase and you and your competitors have the same relevance, the page that has the higher page rank is going to get the better ranking. The relevance of your page is based on your content on that page and the keywords used in the search. The pages with the higher PageRank are going to be shown higher in the search engine listings. This is why PageRank is an important factor to your website, being that Google is one of the most popular search engines being used every day.

If you want to increase the PageRank for your webpages, try to look for ways to generate valuable incoming links to your site. This might mean that you will have to pay other sites to link to you, but well worth it in terms of your search engine rankings.
