Michael J. VanDerZee served as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force for five years. His passion to defend the liberties of his fellow Americans has also inspired him to continue to serve as a reserve in the Florida National Guard. That same dedication is now fueling the efforts behind defending the citizens of Florida in his new law firm, the VanDerZee Law Group.
The VanDerZee Law Group primarily focuses on criminal defense and protecting the civil liberties that Americans hold so dear. Because the law firm feels so strongly about the need to protect our constitutional rights, Michael takes every case on as if he himself is standing trial for the crime. Mr. VanDerZee's merits have been awarded in the battle field as well as the courtroom. In the military, Michael earned much recognition including the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal; the Air Force Commendation Medal; the National Defense Service Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Medal; the Pacific Air Forces Best Legal Office Award; and the Outstanding Unit Citation. He has also excelled in his legal career having served on Stetson University of Law's nationally ranked number one trial team. Additionally, Michael won the American College of Trial Lawyers Advocacy Award and was also named Mothers Against Drunk Driving Prosecutor of the Year.
