Pressure cookers are everywhere

It should come as no surprise that everyone is trying to save time in the kitchen nowadays in preparing dinner for the family. Time has become scarce as both parents work. Money has become scarce as energy bills skyrocket. And health has become a concern as medical costs keep going up. And what has all this got to do with a pressure cooker one might wonder. That is precisely what this article attempts to answer briefly.

The growing popularity of pressure cookers in the modern day kitchen is because they offer a solution to all three problems of time, money and health. To start off, because these gadgets raise the temperature at which water boils beyond the normal two hundred and twelve degrees Fahrenheit, it takes less time to cook as compared with the time to cook the same food in a normal pot of boiling water. Thus the cooking time is drastically reduced.

Because of the significant reduction in the cooking time, the energy consumption for preparing the same dish is much lower when the use of a pressure cooker is implemented. With the costs of energy rising every year, anything that one can do to reduce energy consumption is a welcome idea. In addition to reducing the burden on your wallet, by consuming less energy, you will be doing your part in maintaining the momentum of the green movement.

And finally, coming to the issue of health. Foods that are shallow or deep fried in oils are generally less healthy as compared to foods that are steamed. Imagine the health benefits of eating a plate full of steamed broccoli and green beans versus consuming the same items that have been shallow or deep fried. Everyone is trying to get a grip on their cholesterol levels with the rising cost of medical care. Pressure cookers come to the rescue again by allowing the cooking of foods in a more healthful manner.

No wonder they are in all modern kitchens. Isn't it time you get one too?
